NEW WORK FOR 2025
MOFFAT HEADLAND from Tooway Creek
The perfect day to sit and enjoy this magical view with locals and visitors strolling by. Subdued light gave a calm feel as I mixed colours and painted on the bank. A gentle day and fabulous place to spend time.
MEANDERING THE HILLS
Working in my studio pondering thoughts and joyful memories of the hills surrounding my home. Colours of the hinterland and the happy feeling of the relaxed, quiet moments we seek. Sometimes paintings can be of anywhere that remind you of happy times and relaxed holidays ...this painting is a loose interpretation of one of those places.
MEANDERING THE HILLS, oil on boxed board, 30x30x2cm Ready to Hang(but can have a frame added in the future .

SHAPES ON THE COAST
Sometimes when you are enjoying a scene with all it's details, people wandering, birds flying and breeze blowing, it is fun to zone out and just see the shapes and colours before you. Empty your mind of our busy world and just take in the simplicity of a place, the feel, the colours, it's shapes and its calm healing.

MORNING FRESH WALK
Walking at Coolum Main beach regularly, still gives a different experience every day. Fresh new colours, different weather and new people walking the sand. But it's always fresh, beautiful and uplifting. I aimed to capture this uplifting feeling of an invigorating walk along the shore at a favourite place.

LOW TIDE WALK
It was an unexpected wet day this summer and I couldnt do the outdoor jobs I had planned. So I spent the day in my studio, remembering refreshing walks at coolum while the tide was low. Cool feet, splashing tiny spray on my legs, deep in contemplaltive thought as I passed other walkers. The sun warmed our skin and our souls as the morning greeted us and gave us energy and happy vibes for the day ahead.

SEA AND RIVER SCAPES:

EMBRACE THE DISTANCE
A view can take your breath away. Standing on high, with a scene that stretches out into the exciting far yonder. This painting captures a particular view on the beautiful Sunshine Coast from Pt Arkwright in Coolum but can be representative of any far stretching coastal stretch that inspires wonder. Warm sand that stretches out forever, hills that disappear into the sky and fresh, sea air filling your lungs. "This was painted on site (en plein air) and I was thrilled to have captured exactly how I felt standing there"
Acrylic on thin stretched canvas 30x30cm. Ready to hang as is but can also be framed Sold to Brisbane Family
WARM AND COOL AT COOLUM
Coastlines are places of ever changing mood and colours. Storms can roll in from nowhere and a breeze can cool the hottest of days. A place to feel invigorated and a place to laze dreamily on a towel, tuning out all others. In this painting I wanted to capture the cool and warm embrace of Coolum Beach. I wanted it to be recognisable as Coolum main beach but also be any beach anywhere that invigorates you with cool but also wraps you in warm. Please contact me directly if you live on the Sunshine Coast as I am happy to deliver in person.

STONEY BEACH PATH
This painting was painted using a reference photo taken in New Zealand a few years ago. It was muggy in the studio as i worked, and I was trying to convey how it felt on this cool, invigorating walk on uneven stones and the chilly, clear, fresh air. I was able to escape a little into the cool refreshing moment as I painted.

TIME FOR THE RIVER
This is a place you know that when you visit you will instantly feel better! Big open skies and river reflecting its mood. Always amazing and uplifting, even on a gray stormy day. I wanted to capture the uplifting, hugeness of nature yet the personal, closeness you can feel on any given day. Maroochy River is always a place I will return to often.

COOL BY THE WATER
I painted this en plein air with a group of artists on a paint out week. It was an incredibly hot day but I really wanted to capture this view with the reflections and so had no shade where I set up (usually we try to find a view from a shady spot!). I managed to rig my rain umbrella onto my easel which gave me some shade. Thankfully I think I was able to capture the cool, trickling water and beautiful sparkling sky reflections on a beautiful summers day.

QUIETLY SITTING
After a wonderfully warm, fun, perfect summers day at the beach I was packing up to go home, with arms full of stuff and I noticed this man quietly sitting, still enjoying the last rays of the sun and in no rush to leave, making the most of the last moments of a happy Sunday at the beach. I put everything down, took a photo and dashed to the car! Then enjoyed that quiet sitting moment again as I painted this little study.

REFLECTING ON A RIVER WALK (includes frame)
This painting was started on site at a river walk near where I used to live. The river always looks different, the colours are earthy and vegetation is natural so you feel away from it all but you are just round the corner from life. Do you have a local spot just like that? (Mountain Creek River on the Sunshine Coast)

ABSTRACTS:
ALIVE WITH THE SOUND
The Queensland hinterland is a truly fabulous place to live in or escape to. Fresh air, new growth and alive with the sound of natures music. This painting is inspired by the hinterland where I live and captures the movement, the open air and freshness of being in the country and all the wonder it holds.

MISTY GARDEN GEMS
The garden is a constant source of joy and inspiration. This process of painting consists of many layers, starting with bright colours and shapes creating a canvas of happy colour palette that blends together. The next process is negative space painting to allow the shapes to grow, just like in the garden. For this painting I stopped a layer or two before I usually do, as I love the misty glow affect.

DOWN AMONGST THE DANDELION
Abstract is a wonderful way to loosen up, experiment and to express a feeling you find no words for. I usually paint impressionist style, based on or inspired by real views or places. Then if I find myself using too much detail or defined images in these impressions, I will break out with an abstract to loosen my creativity again. This abstract painting was in response to my weekly walks along rural roads and tracks. A tangle of weeds and branches, autumn leaves floating in puddles, and a busy life of bugs and seeds we forget exists down there on the verge.

BOBBING IN THE WIND II (includes frame)
Happy painting process of brightly blended undercoat colours, then allowing shapes to grow and appear with negative space painting and developing the shapes as they appear. Many layers gives different affects.

WALKING WITH MUSIC
I painted this abstract while alone at home, with music blasting through the whole house which I dont usually do if others are at home. This process reminded me how music can energise and uplift, or bring you to an emotion you seek, escaping to your own chosen, private world ... even on the train or waiting at an appointment. I was pleased that the colours go so well together yet convey all the different mix of emotions we may seek to escape or find.

BOUNCING INTO HAPPY
Painted during covid when things were starting to look better but we really didnt know what normal would look like. We were all taking each day as it came. Some were bouncing so much harder than others, and for some the lows were incredibly low. But I felt hopeful and wanted to convey that.

DREAMING OUT THERE (includes frame)
A slightly whimsical expression of my mood when sitting out on the balcony, looking at the trees and bush and the gorgeous kookaburras come to perch on our rail to spend some quiet time with us. Just looking and wondering and enjoying the minutes as they tick by. Often a time when dreams are conjured and occasionally plans are made.

STUCK, UNSTUCK
Abstracts are my way of loosening up and finding inspiration again. When I am stuck on another painting, not sure what to paint next or struggling to resolve or progress a current painting... I get my acrylic paints out and explore my creative side and enjoy a free approach. Sometimes these lead to paintings I love and that I feel say something close to what I was wanting to express or find. This painting reflects the mess and the termoil life can sometimes create, but the overall impression is of hopeful optimism.

SPRING CHASES WINTER AWAY
Spring is a time of warming rays, new growth, fresh starts and positive vibes. But it often also means busier days and more activity. In this painting I wanted to capture all those positive, warm feelings but give a calm, restful attitude. CLOUDS ABOVE BLUE HILLS
Autumn has arrived here ... the hills are still green from summer rain, the sky is blue and clear because the air is crisp and a little cooler. Such amazing time of year when everything is bright and fresh looking. The days are still warm but cool evenings and mornings refresh us. This little painting was painted up on the lookout in Dulong and I was pleased to have captured everything I was thinking and seeing.

HAPPINESS IS TREES
Have been thinking of trees a lot lately, as several I see and walk under on my morning walks in rural Sunshine Coast are dripping tears from stress. Too hot probably! I started writing a poem and as I wrote the urge to paint was strong so I squeezed out my acrylics and worked on this for 4 hours. Each day after that I worked a little more and although my poem is sad and a little desperate I wanted the painting to be a happy reminder of how special and wonderful trees are, and how important they are to our happiness and health.

SUNRISE AND SEED HEADS I - NOW SOLD
Most mornings I walk... for fitness, for meditation, for clearing my mind, for enjoying the colours and for inspiration in life and my painting. Nature is an amazing teacher, inspirer and healer. I wanted to capture the warmth of the light but also the coolness of the air. The sense of possibilities unfolding. Seeds get strewn and grow where they land. Do we give much thought to what we sew? Witnessing a sunrise can give you the opportunity to think and hope and go forward positive. This painting is a reminder of the positive energy each new day can bring.

Spoilt for choice on Sunshine Coast beaches, where headlands, surfing waves and warm sandy bays appear on every coastal bend. Moffat Beach is a special place in many a local's heart for so many reasons.
